The Softness
Hand-tracking / VR

This project addresses the lack of haptic feedback in VR, which is crucial for applications like art therapy. It questions the standard VR/AR approach of simulating softness using only visual and auditory cues, emphasizing the need for actual tactile experiences influenced by personal memory, experience, and perception.
Central to the project is the development of a real-time hand-tracking feature in Unity. By studying this hand-tracking technology, the project aims to study and prompt new ways of enhancing immersive experiences, moving beyond traditional visual and auditory stimuli to include a genuine sense of touch.
The goal is to innovate in VR/AR to create more holistic and engaging experiences, particularly in fields where the tactile element is essential, like art therapy. The project seeks to examine how to overcome current technology's limitations to provide a more holistic and multisensory experience that aligns with the depth and complexity of human sensations.
